چکیده

Hard processes with polarized nucleon beams enable us to study spin-dependent dynamics of QCD and the spin structure of nucleon. The helicity distribution ∆q(x) of quarks within nucleon has been measured in polarized DIS experiments, and ∆G(x) of gluons has also been estimated from the scaling violations of them. On the other hand, the transversity distribution δq(x), i.e. the distribution of transversely polarized quarks inside transversely polarized nucleon, can not be measured in inclusive DIS due to its chiral-odd nature,1 and remains as the last unknown distribution at the leading twist. Transversely polarized Drell-Yan (tDY) process is one of the processes where the transversity distribution can be measured, and has been undertaken at RHIC-Spin experiment. We compute the 1-loop QCD corrections to tDY at a measured QT and azimuthal angle φ of the produced lepton in the dimensional regularization scheme. For this purpose, the phase space integration inD-dimension, separating out the relevant transverse degrees of freedom, is required to extract the ∝cos(2φ) part of the cross section characteristic of the spin asymmetry of tDY.1 The calculation is rather cumbersome compared with the corresponding calculation in unpolarized and longitudinally polarized cases, and has not been performed so far. We obtain the NLO

Transversely Polarized Drell-Yan Process and Soft Gluon Resummation in QCD

We calculate the transverse-momentum QT spectrum of the dilepton in the transversely polarized Drell-Yan process on the basis of the factorization theorem in QCD. We take into account universal logarithmically enhanced corrections in edge region of phase space by resumming multiple soft-gluon emissions to all orders in the small QT region.

Double Transverse-Spin Asymmetries for Small-QT Drell-Yan Pair Production in pp̄ Collisions

We discuss the double-spin asymmetries in transversely polarized Drell-Yan process, calculating all-order gluon resummation corrections up to the next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. This resummation is relevant when the transverse-momentum QT of the produced lepton pair is small, and reproduces the (fixed-order) next-to-leading QCD corrections upon integrating over QT . The resummation correc...

Threshold Resummation Effects in the Polarized Drell-yan Process at Gsi and J-parc∗

Recently, new experiments in polarized hadron collisions have been proposed at the GSI1 (p̄p) and at J-PARC2 (pp). One of the main purposes of these experiments is the measurement of transverse-spin asymmetries in the Drell-Yan process, in order to get information on the transversely polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the nucleon. The proposed experiments would be at relatively mo...

QCD Prediction of AT T for Small QT Dimuon Production in pp and pp̄ Collisions

We present QCD prediction of double-spin asymmetries (ATT ) in transversely polarized Drell-Yan process at small transverse momentum QT of dimuon. Resummation of large logarithmic corrections, relevant in small QT region, is performed up to next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy. ATT at RHIC, J-PARC and GSI are studied numerically in the corresponding kinematic regions. We show that the lar...

The Dilepton QT Spectrum in Transversely Polarized Drell-Yan Process in QCD

We discuss the transverse momentum QT distribution of Drell-Yan pair, produced in collisions of transversely polarized protons. We calculate the transversely polarized Drell-Yan cross section up to order αs in the dimensional regularization scheme, which gives QCD prediction at large QT . For small QT region, we include all-orders resummation of large logarithms due to emission of soft gluons u...
